Hi there,
I was wondering if it's possible to go from S1 switching to a standard wiring without replacing the N3 pickups. Don't ever use the switch and now, all of a sudden, I'm starting to have issues with the selector. My neck pickup doesn't work anymore. I've opened up the pick guard and none of the wires appear to be loose.

Thanks in advance.

Pat

Yes. The extra wire on the N3 pups is just an extra ground for shielding, which would connect to ground no matter what wiring scheme that you use. So each N3 pup in a standard configuration will have two wires connected to ground, and the other wire as "hot".

If you don't use the S1 switch, then leave the wiring alone and simply don't use it. Why changing the wiring??

If you have probs with the selector switch, check those soldering points, clean or replace the switch, DONE!

There's no advantage in re-wiring, the result and sounds will be the same as with the S1 switch disengaged.

I admit, I don't like the S1 switch sound very much either when it's switched on but I noticed that after tweaking my amp settings a bit, it got much better.
I would leave it in and maybe one day you either change your mind or you'll change your music genre and might need/want it.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it, especially when the results are the same as before.

Take care of the selector ... that'll be it.

I agree with smokin on this. just don't engage the S1 if you don't like it. The sounds of it disengaged is the same as if you were to remove the S1.

Besides, if your tastes in sounds change or a particular S1 sound becomes useful to you then you don't have to convert it back again.

Thanks for the input guys! Ended up bringing the guitar to my dealer only to realize that it was a cold solder on the coil wire itself. Problem solved. Will keep this configuration for now without using the S1. Guitar sounds great without it.
