Right now I am looking at getting ready to purchase another Strat but am seriously depressed about the lack of color choices available per model, fretboard selections and horrible pickguard schemes on beautifully finished guitars. Without having to make a very expensive FCS order could I get an American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS in any color without it being a FCS order?

Yes! Pay another 250 bucks for a professional refinish in any color you want.

Yes, any color that you want.....as long as it's one of the colors offered.

You can build your own from parts on eBay, choose the body color that you want from those available. Or, have one painted by a local shop. But you can't get a production guitar in any other color than the ones offered by Fender.

I guess I'll live with Tungsten for a while. Thanks.

Don't tell me, ANY other guitar manufacturer offers guitars in ANY color you want without having you pay for it.

Fender has many, many colors to chose from. If it's still not your taste, that's what the custom shop is for. They'll do literally EVERYTHING, if you pay for it.

A professional refinish is still cheaper!

I know, but I'm one of those want it now and one time done right people. For the quality of the guitar I can live with the color I have to choose from until I can afford a FCS guitar, then I get it with all the bells and whistles as I want and hopefully never have to buy another one, or I'll get a bad case of GAS and live in utter poverty to have the most awesome collection of guitars. Life is already trending towards the latter.

What does that look like. I'm not aware that Tungsten is a color that is offered.

Why am I not surprised???
Believe me, a CS strat won't cure you from GAS! It won't! Definitely not!
The only way to escape GAS is bankruptcy (spelled right???).

For lack of better terms, Tungsten color is a darker metallic grey.

I'm guessing that you're talking about the Charcoal Frost Metallic. It's nice, but I agree all of the current Am. Std. colors are very dark and moody accept for colors like white. I like the Jade Green Metallic.

It seems like you get more of a choice with the Teles.

I think that Tungsten is a little lighter than the Charcoal Frost Metallic. It's one of the colors for the American Deluxe HSS.

I see. It's a nice color, but I'm thinking that Fender should really lighten up a few of thier colors a little.

That's the route I'd go... not to mention you could order a body from MJT... I have a strat body of theirs and am awaiting a tele body... fantastic guys to work with and you can oder nearly any fender color (and a few others) that you can imagine. They'll do it up with no relic job if you like, if that's not your thing.

A new body and neck (I have a few of their finished necks also) is pretty reasonable considering it's nitro finished and all. Have a look...
