I found these floating around, I'm sure some have seen these
but interesting nonetheless.

I believe those photos are circa 1973ish
around the time he purchased his strat.

Ps if you have Pre reliced pics of this strat, post em
I'd like to view them as well as others.
I believe the last photo predates the install
of the left handed tremolo

I had not seen them before thanks for the share! Love to see a guitar or people for that matter with signs of age and time..each wrinkle is a badge of honor well earned!

I had a chance to see #1 upclose a few months ago. Using the term "relic" to describe her is an understatement... more like "beat up". You wouldn't believe how much damage has been done to that guitar.

True dat voodoo ,
I saw him in Montreal video, could've been another one where
He was using the tremolo like if he were trying to break the
damn thing.
I also read somewhere that he would through her and bounce
her off the walls during live shows .
I baby my hr 62 strat and can't imagine even dropping her accidentally.
My hr 57 has some scuffs, checking, some areas where the paint
Has rubbed off, yet I still clean her, wipe the body and neck to
not aggravate the finish.
Would I like my strat to look naturally aged, definitely.
But won't try to relice myself.

The saddest thing I've seen was the DVD "Live at the Mocambo", where he tried to break off the neck by standing on it with one foot and pulling upwards on the neck.
He seemed to be totally off the line! :(
Thank God he didn't manage to break off the neck!

Yes, he bounced the #1 on stage.

I'm happy to see these pictures I haven't seen yet!
Thank you!

I've never seen these pics before. Thank you very much for posting. You can definetely tell the older brother influence from the hair style!

If you have a copy of the "In The Beginning" CD there's a pic in the liner showing the results of this trick.

This would fall under the category of "fake relicing", no different than someone relicing their own guitar with sandpaper and other methods. Certainly not natural wear from simply playing it for years, yet no objections? :? Reminds me of the guys on the football team that would constantly bang their helmets on everything outside of the field to scar them up to simulate natural wear and tear. I don't mind. :)
