I have an 1983 Strat that came with the Kahler tremolo. I lost the bar a long time ago.
I am thinking of replacing the Kahler with one of the Fender models. Any suggestions as far as spec concerns and the like?

See if you can get the Kahler specs.
If not, many Fender trems will work.
You should have the neck adjusted by a pro
as the tension(s) may vary.
How many springs to use will be another factor.
Too much tension will harm your neck and bridge.

An American sized Fender tremolo arm fits most Kahlers from that period.

Depending on which model Kahler you have, at the very least, there exists a much larger tremolo hole in the body's wood than that of a Fender's which a Fender tremolo will not cover. Further, depending on which Fender tremolo you intend to replace it with, you most likely will have to deal with over-sized screw/post mounting holes when attempting to install the Fender. All these factors considered and at the risk of sounding like a cliche, "Are you sure you want to go there?"

Have you purchased "parts" of locking nuts or "parts" of a tremolo system,
rather than the complete component? Toppscore
