Different Levels of Hissing/Humming Sound with my 08MIAStrat -

I have a new 2008 American Standard with some Humming Hissing noise, I would imagine that to be normal, the second you play the noise is gone. Depending on gain and other factors the level of noise changes.

But here is the strnage thing, when you touch any tuning machine, the noise stops instantly, also when the volume knob on the strat is cranked all the way, the noise is less, but if the volume is on 6-8 the noise is very significant.

Is this normal?

Sounds like a shielding issue. I shielded my old MIA cause I had similar problems. I don't have any issues anymore.

Make sure to use a quality guitar cord like Monster, et. al.

The hiss could be from the treble controls on the amp being cranked too high.

The hum could be coming from a bad A/C circuit. Try plugging into a different outlet on a different circuit and without other equipment on the same circuit. You may also have a ground loop problem.

If you are running your equipment too close to the TV or computer while they're you'll get noise too. But it does sound like you have a shielding issue somewhere.

I checked yesterday and it is much more of an issue with my gdec versus my 5w tube amp, and much worse with a compressor setting.
