Hello and have nice time with Fender Strats,

I am a new member and therefore excuse my first writing a topic.

I have a wonderful ash Fender US Strat built in 2011, I think..
It has 3 SCs but I don't know which type they are???

To get much more out of the strat I think about changing this
standard Single Coil Setup and buy a 69er AY Set which is often
praised as a very good musical set???

Is it so??? Do you have any recommendation to that idea???

Thanks to all which could help with this matter.
Thanks Holly

If you would like write me directly

Hi, Holly. Welcome :)
Cannot go wrong with a set from Seymour Duncan or Guitar Fetish.
Just make sure the "name brand" set is matched for each of the
three postions ~ neck middle bridge. Some manufacturer sets
have dedicated pickups for each hole and work well together when
blended with the #2 or #4 switch position.

Take care. Toppscore 8)

Welcome to the forum.
Ive had great success with Fender's 57/62 set of single coils, afer trying Lollar's Vintage Blondes. the 57/62s sound more stratty to me.

I believe the Fender issued 2011 USA American Stratocaster pickups
are Fender's Alnico 5's.

Hope this helps. Toppscore :)

Welcome Holly!

As I always ask people when thinking about pickup changes:

1. What is it about your current pickups that you find lacking?

2. What is it about your current pickups that you want to make sure a replacement set will still have?

Oftentimes, many people will replace their original pickups because they are lacking "A" and "B". They then come to realize that with the replacement set, "A" and "B" are surely there now but "C" and "D" which they liked and took for granted with the originals are now gone. So take all the above into consideration.

Worth noting: You will get many, many recommendations from players regarding which set works for them. These are all valid and sincere. However, when it comes to such things, it is all 'sliding scale' when it comes down to another player's satisfaction. Consider too that realistically, the odds are, there are several different brands/sets out there which will work for anyone so there is not just one
'mystical, magical' set out there with 'your name on it'.

As always, the above is merely IMO where YMMV.

Welcome Holly!

Everyone will have their own opinion on what is best so you will get lots of replies.

What style of music do you play?

+1

Also......what type of playing do you do, what amp, what pedalboard setup, etc etc etc?

There are dozens of variables at play in this equation and they won't all end with the same pat answer.

Is there something you don't like about your strat, the question is like a previous post said,is it not stratty enough. Which means you have a little experience. Goto a shop and try out different strats with different pick-ups, that should help, before making a hasty decision. Good luck!

Maybe out comparing pickups? Too many choices for too little info. I would also like to know what type of music Holly is playing, She did mention CS 69's. I have these in my 60's CP and they sound very nice, I also have 2 strats with the 57/62 pickups which also sound very nice.

Personally, your amp of choice is always the foundation for the sound you are looking for. A great guitar will sound like crap through a crap amp. What kind of amp are you using and what tone are you trying to chase?

Hi,

it doesn't make sense to replace pickups just by the reason that you heard that another set of pickups is good or better. The AY69 set was made to capture the sounds of the late sixties. In those days strats had alder bodys and rosewood boards which would produce a different sound compared to the sound an ash bodied strat would deliver. What would fit very well are Fenders '54 pickups because these were made for Strats containing ash bodies and maple necks with maple boards.

Cheers, Pete

Pete. Don't you think with all the money in the world
and all of the amps and guitars available,
all of the footswitches and pedals ever made,
all of the recording and mixing possibilities . . . . .
one could ultimately get any sound, any tone, any time, from any guitar
played through the right amp and the right footswitch/pedal,
and with great recording & mixing . . . .
What's too worry :?: :?: :?:
