Just bought at 2012 American Standard Sienna Sunburst..
I'm just curious as to why there has not been made a hole in the lid of the case for the whammy bar to be stored on the guitar.
It is there a particular reason why it can't be left on if such a hole existed ?

I have some cases that allow me to leave the whammy on
if I rotate it to a corner.

i am afraid of somehow screwing up my guitar body finish.

I do have a telecaster with a bigsby that has no issues
when leaving it's bar installed.

As a Stratocaster case is concerned, the case being protection from impact, the general rule is not to leave it on/in. I never do and even if it would fit, the bar touches the case lid which in the case ( no puns ) of a hard impact at that location would possibly punch a hole thru the case and risk damaging the bridge section...
When I lived on an Island, I used to fly often on the puddle jumper planes and even on small airlines, baggage gets bounced around, sometimes dropped and worse.
The case is made to isolate the contents from harm or shock....It is your choice to try to fit the bar on when in it's case but I wouldn't, which is also why there is a separate compartment for the bar and accessories...

How many tremelo bars have you snapped during a performance? I've snapped two and I see a third has become bent. The 3 tremelo arms are gold plated for my SRV sig strat. I bought an $8 chrome tremelo arm to use from now on compared to the $23 gold plated ones.

I believe the first one snapped, because I forgot to remove it after a few late night gigs. Then I made it a paramount to remove the trem arm before putting her in the case. The second one snapped during a Hendrix - "Voodoo Child" rendition at a dive-bomb.

Might I point out, that I only use the tremelo for dive-bombs and rapid tremelo effects. I never pull up on it as the block forbids it. I am using only 3 springs in "V" formation for resistance.

I noticed the third one had become bent after a Hendrix - "Third Stone From The Sun" rendition with heavy dive-bombs. I removed it and now use a chrome whammy-bar. We'll see if that makes a difference.

When the first one snapped I had a machinist pull out the stub with a special tool that he made. Apparently he didn't realize that the bore enters the block at an angle and doesn't screw into the block at 90°, so he retapped the threads. The second bar felt loose after that. When the second one snapped I ordered a new block and tremelo bar from Fender and had a certified tech install it. I'm not gonna let it happen a third time! I'll keep buying chrome trems with every other string change if I have to, LOL.

My experience, tells me to never put the guitar in the case with the tremelo bar on!

I got a better idea. How's about Fender make gold-plated tremelo bars out of some rugged material. And while they're at it, (and this may surprise you), make a lefty tremelo arm.

I have hunted far and wide, searching for a lefty-bent tremelo arm on any Fender guitar. I tried to order one directly from Fender. THEY DO NOT EXIST! Imna have my friend, the machinist, make one out of titanium...

There is good reason not to put the guitar in the case with the vibrato arm screwed in. One day years ago I was going to a jam just a few houses up the street from me. Figuring that it wouldn't do any harm I left the arm screwed into my lefty-strung-right Strat. Anyway as usual I took a spare guitar and my effects case so one of my buddies took the Strat.When we got to the jam house he dropped the case on the sofa lid side down.When I opened the case the arm was cracked off in the string block from the impact of hitting the lid and no amount of trying would get it out-even using ann Easi-Out so I had to go through the added expense of buying a lefty vibrato arm and a bridge/block assembly and at that time they certainly weren't cheap especially for an MIA lefty Strat.

We all know how a Strat's tremolo works and how to use it properly. (Well, most of us, any way.) Correct usage has the arm exerting pressure on the block which shall cause the system as a whole to give in accordance with this fulcrum system. Now consider pushing and shifting that arm in any variety of angles aside from the aforementioned. This is what the case is doing to the arm where there is no give from the tremolo system. At the very least, the block's threads are going to stretch. Eventually, the pressure exerted on the arm that stretched the block's threads shall also cause metal fatigue to the arm where it in turn, will stretch and ultimately snap. Also worth mentioning is the fact that this abuse of the arm/block can cause the whole tremolo system to shift on its pivot screws where here too in turn, these screws and their threaded holes can suffer the same fate as the block and the arm. Ironically, the least of one's problems here is the fact that the guitar will surely no longer be in tune. And then there's the possibility of the snapped arm with it's new, jagged edge mutilating the finish of the guitar while it merrily dances around free inside the case. The point: Remove the arm when storing the guitar in the case!!!
