AM thinking of getting the Buddy Guy Sig POlka dot strat. Has anyone tried these? NecK?Tone?Compared to a US strat? Any input is greatly valued.

One of my friends has the polka dot Strat. It's got a very nice neck and the midboost that comes with the guitar is a nice feature. It IS an MIM guitar (not saying it's automatically poor mind you) but the build quality isn't the same, and the pickups could stand the upgrade. If you can afford it, try finding the American Buddy Guy Strat with Lace Sensor pickups, or the Clapton Strat for that matter (the original EC and Guy Strats were almost identical).

Better yet, if you find an American Standard or the like, get that. Buddy's golden period (Chess Records and Vanguard Records) he was using straight production model Strats- the signature Strat didn't come out until the mid 90s.

That said, they are nice, and it would go well with my autographed polka-dot strap... 8)

I was considering that strat and then I stopped and asked myself "would anyone take me seriously playing that strat?"

However, at the end of the day, I've never seen ANY strat that I wouldn't enjoy owning!
