How about one of the Japanese 80s Strats. Contemporary/HM etc.
They were well made. Something like mine maybe. Just add a Humbucker or three.

Nice looking 1980s Strat, Boxbang!

After all this time, how could we forget the HM Strat. There was a Highway One Showmaster that had several features in common with the old HM and for those who could care less about the name on the headstock - the Squier Stagemasters should be considered as well.

93 Green Strat. I totally freakin' agree.
The Fender Dave Murray Stratocaster is a 21 Fret HSS.
The 1990s Fender HM Heavy Metal is a 24 Fret HSH.

Thinking about it, I've finished installing a GFS 12k Stacked Middle pickup on my
GREEN HSH Super Strat. Here is my "Green Strat" which is really a Super Strat.

* Floyd Rose Tremolo
* Floyd Rose Locking Nut
* Green “Burst” Finish w/Flame Maple Top
* White Binding
* Bridge = DiMarzio Super III Distortion HB
* Middle = Guitar Fetish 12k True Coil single coil pickup strategically mated to an under-wound coil
* Neck = DiMarzio Humbucker from Hell

JUST WONDERING/GUESSING ~ MY GREEN HSH is very close to the Fender HM Heavy Metal Strat.
But, somewhat closer (maybe better :wink: ) than the Fender Dave Murray Strat.
What do you think?

Are you nuts? The single-humbucker strat has 21 frets, not a 2-octave fretboard! Also, there's no vintage locking tremolo AFAIK. Neck has the floyd rose nut installed: +1!

As for the floyd rose trem, yes, it's your sunburst HHH strat I'm talking about.

Let's see the picture yourself:

This is definitely a good choice among all others. With a JB/59 dropped in, it would be a balls out full metal guitar!!

Make it an HHH beast and throw a third full-sized humbucker in the middle position!

Personally I'd like to see a cherryburst Sambora with "Jersey Star" mods and active electronics.

Honestly, I haven't spent much time with this guitar (YET) as I've been overloaded with Fender amp
and other guitar projects, not to mention family life, work, gym, guitar practice, sleep, etc :shock:

***From the seller's own words:
(please please please pick off any errors and I'll shoot some photos and re-inspect
the guitar as compared towards the seller's claims. Haven't done that yet. Thanks :) )

* Mid-late 1990's vintage Fender Body & Fender Neck. It’s an American Stratocaster.
I bought the body & neck. There were no pickups within the guitar. I had a local Indiana
company do modifications, scallop the neck, install the frets, install the locking saddles,
install Seymour Duncan LiveWire & the two battery active system, install the locking nut.

* Fender Neck has been scalloped
* 6100 Dunlop Frets Installed
* Vintage Locking Tremolo
* Locking Nut
* Installed "String Lock" saddles in the bridge (Saddles alone are $60.00).
* Fender Factory Tuners
* Installed Left-Handed neck (reverse headstock)

* Seymour Duncan - Live Wire pickup. Dedicated single "H" rear bridge humbucker.
Same pickup used by Jim Martin (Faith No More). The Strat has ability to run two (2)
9-volt batteries within the guitar (sounds AMAZING when run with both batteries).
Plays like it has a Floyd Rose tremolo installed, but sounds like a regular Stratocaster.

Seller's published costs:
1990s Stratocaster Body - $350.00
Active Pickup & installation w/Pickguard $100.00
Refret Neck services - $150.00
Scalloped Neck services - $150.00
Locking Saddles - $60.00
Locking Nut & installation - $20
Case - $70.00
Total - $850.00

***I paid just under $300 in May 2012 :shock: Toppscore 8)

It's not a real Strat but a partscaster made up from various parts.

1. Neck is taken from a MIM Standard HSS Strat with Floyd Rose.

2. The fretboard has been professionally scalloped.

3. American Strats feature 22 medium-jumbo frets.

4. Bridge has been modded with deluxe locking saddles.

Quote:
Same pickup used by Jim Martin

LiveWires were designed explicitly with Dave Mustaine in mind.

Thanks. I know it's not an off the shelf Fender.
Again, not to get mixed up, I am discussing the single "H", scalloped, 24 fret Strat.

I believe it is an Fender Body with a newer Fender Left Handed neck.
Hopefully, those are two Fender American pieces of wood.
The rest is partscaster.

From 1st to 89th :?: :?: :?: What gives :?: :?: :?:
In 2009, David Scott "Dave" Mustaine was ranked No. 1 in Joel McIver's book The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists. Mustaine was ranked 89th by Hit Parader on their list of the 100 Greatest Metal Vocalists of All Time.

Could both of them (Dave Murray & Dave Mustaine)
have played similar styled guitars at some point in their careers?

Toppscore :)

Mustaine was amongst the guys who formed Metallica in the early 1980s.

The band fired him because of his alcoholism, drug abuse, overly aggressive behavior, and personality clashes with founding members Hetfield and Ulrich, an incident Mustaine refers to as "no warning, no second chance".

Ha! Saw a great Metallica documentary on that, years ago. Great.

I always think of Matt Damon as Izzy Cole in Rock Star as a Metallic inspired movie.
Good stuff.

Seriously doubt alcohol, drugs & being a bad boy
only resulted towards one serious discussion without a second chance.
Reminds me of a river in Egypt.

Well, you'll be able to find the Jackson in my coffin when I'm buried. Not sure about the others, everything but the ESP strathead are keepers, and I won't get rid of the J.E.Lee until one of my custom orders comes in...

But thanks! I live in Mtn View Ca. If you can find them, you can have them. :lol:

Oh, I haven't even played the Fender yet. That one is on the boat... or an airplane, or something. It's en-route from Japan to California. Judging by the layout and how well Japanese Fenders play, I doubt I'll want to get rid of it so I'm fairly certain it'll be a keeper too. Actually, I paid so much, I don't think anyone else would want to buy it anyway. lmao
