Good evening folks,

I've been looking at a Strat for a while (who hasn't!) and may have found the ideal entry into the fender world.

I need some help identifying a Strat. Here are some rather bad photos and I was hoping some of the members here could help me:

The Z10#### serial number confirms it as an American made Fender from 2001-2002 and from visual identification (70s head, pickups etc) I think it may be a Highway 1 but I can't find a mention of that colour. I am waiting on more info on it but the owner does not know which model it is.

Also can any one from the UK suggest a value of this guitar?

Any and all help welcomed guys!

That is not a '70s headstock.

Did they make Highway One Strats back in 2001-2? I think the range came out more recently than that.

Also do Highway One Strats have two-post trems and microtilt neck adjustment?

The current Highway 1 is different, I am not sure if it has changed in the last 10 years.

I really like the look of the guitar pictured in my first post but I need to find out which model it is! :)

Is there any way of telling the model based on the serial number?

From the photos it looks like an American Series Strat - it could be either a regular American Series with a replaced pickguard or it could be the "American Series Texas Special" which had Texas Special pickups. The "Texas Special" would have had the candy apple red and the pearl pickguard as stock.

I would send the serial number to Fender's Consumer Relations at consumerrelations@fender.com

Thank you John I have dropped them an e mail.

The pick up configuration doesn't match the Texas, hopefully Fender will be able to get the info from the serial number.

In the mean time any opinions?

Looks like a 2001 American Texas Special from the "Hot Rodded" series.
They also came in candy apple red like yours with perloid pickguards. Yes, they had two-point tremolos.

What throws me off a little is, that your pickups seem NOT to be staggered, like the Texas Specials would be. Maybe they changed the pickups?? Wait .... can't see it perfectly focussed but they MIGHT be staggered. Are they??

Here's mine, in surf pearl (surf green metallic) from 2002:
