I bought a Strat neck from a friend of mine at work today. It's a 2004 SRV signature series and the serial number starts with SZ4. Z4 comes up in the database but not SZ4 so I was wondering if this is a genuine neck or not. Could the "S" preceding the Z4 mean Signature Series? It sure seems of high quality. I may put it on my 2011AS Strat to try it out. It cleaned up well with only light wear on the frets and finish. It came with Kluson tuners. Pictures tomorrow.

Don't you love the way so many posters invent their own acronyms and we're all supposed to know what they mean? Having now read the post, I surmise it means, "New Neck Day" ('new' to the OP, any way). And of course, no pictures!

Notwithstanding and, to the OP: Yes, "IIA" 2004 "SSN".

OK OK... someone invented NGD and I have to admit I posted NND to get attention to my post. You each get to slap me once if you're lefties.

It was late and I was tired so no pictures last night but here ya go.

Sorry for any lapse in protocol. I know this forum holds to higher standards.

It is authentic 2004 signature serial number? Thanks. I dig.

I thought it odd that it doesn't have "made in USA" on the back like my AS Strat does.

You're welcome.

As this is a Signature Model which replicates a Pre-CBS instrument, "Made in USA" was not on the originals either.

FWIW, IMO, those frets could use a G&P; YMMV. How's that for acronyms?

All kidding aside, you've got yourself a nice neck there, enjoy! :D

Oh, and guess what? Although I play righty, I'm a lefty!

Thanks baz,

Sorry about the "other" thread. I posted in the wrong place and don't know how to contact Brad.

You're welcome.

Be very careful attempting a G&P. This task is not for a novice and can easily and permanently go very, very wrong. I urgently recommend extensive practice on some PsOS first.

I have an Ibanez I bought for $20 that I can work on first. The dude I bought it from practiced throwing the guitar with a strap over his shoulder and around back front. It didn't always work and thats why the body has some cracks at the neck pocket.

This Fender neck will get the care of a newborn baby and I will take all advice on doing this job right. I have wanted to get into doing all aspects of guitar maintenance and repair, I just haven't had the cash and time to do much yet.
