Anyone have a link where I can find out the original details on a Strat build, like date pickups, model, etc? Just picked up a used Strat serial N6173942

While there isn't a source where you can look it up, you can email the serial number to Fender's Consumer Relations and they can look it up for you. The email is consumerrelations@fender.com

All the publicly available sites can tell you is that serial number would be used on a circa 1996 USA-built Fender (and that it is not a reissue model as they use a different serial number system).

First off post some pics...front back, headstock, underside of the pickguard, neck pocket for starters. Then we might be able to give you more info. You can also send an e-mail to Fender at consumerrelations@fender.com with all the information you can send them, including the serial number.

I agree with all of these, but I would add photos of:
the back and edge of the arm contours (where your arm pit rests).
Neck plate
the pickup routes
a closeup of the pickups themselves.

Fender can give you all sorts of specifics just by a serial number... I suggest that above everything else.

Friday I have a replacement pickguard drop in loaded with HSS samarium cobalt noiseless pickups and the S1 system shipping in. About to order the mag-lock and blade runner package from super-vee,as well. Happy days. Thanks for all the help. :)
