when your ring the 12th fret harmonic if the string rings for 5 sec
near the end of the string vibration look on the tune and the needle on the guitar tuner will jump at least 3 spaces away form the orginal note
and does not match the open string but this will only happen when the 12th fret harmonic string is pluck at the end of the string vibration should i adjust the string to match the open note :?: :?

I always set the intonation by using the open note and fretted at the 12th fret. I don't use the harmonic.

Sounds to me like your guitar needs to have the neck adjusted too.

I use the 12th fret and the 12th fret harmonic for speed and convenience. I think I could actually do a tad better using the 5th and 17th frets (more closely coupled to actual playing). The next step is to get you guitar Feitenized or buy a set of offsets from the net.

EDIT - I just went back and spent about 1/2 hour intonnating the 5th and 17th frets... the strat sounds a tad better as I expected.

That's the correct measurement according to the manual. What king of pickups are you using and how close is the pole to that string?

Or go with an Earvana nut and not have to use a specialized tuner like you do with a Feinten system. Not to mention the big difference in cost.
