Ditto on the hindsight. I just scrolled through the Telecaster-Plus Club's website and saw only one maple/on/natural guitar of the many displayed. :?

Debating about pulling the trigger and buy new guitar .... debating whether I dare go Gibson after the fun and games I had three years ago, when I bought three over a six period and returned everyone of 'em because of quality issues.

Has quality improved of late? I will be visiting the Gibson in Memphis in two weeks, perhaps I'll find one there .... as long as they are asking no more than GC prices.

P.S. Anyone else toured Gibson @ Memphis ...is it worth the $$ and 40 minutes for the tour?

Really. Gibson should pay you to labor through their confines.
And, hand you a goldtop on the way out

Memphis was a blast and the trip around the Gibson factory interesting (only $9) .... some really nice 335s in Pelham Blue there ... way too expensive for my pocket.

Spent nearly two hours playing guitars in the factory shop, mainly the high end acoustics. I also played a couple of LPs.... the quality of the LP Studio in a lovely blue swirl finish was diabolical ... the body was well nigh perfect but the neck was so bad as to make it unplayable, pity as I would have liked that to have been my son's 21st birthday present.

It seems that they knock out 500 Les Paul's a day from the Nashville factory .... seems that the quality has slipped still further in the last three years....

All Line 6s which are OKish but sound so harsh when driven ... mainly played the acoustics (still prefer my Epiphone Masterbilt AJ500M for tone and playability).

But sounds fantastic.

Awe come on Topp, "snappier" ...you got a computer...dictionary.com is your friend. I understood what he meant and so did most everyone else here.

BS...Nice looking Les Paul...nice figureing in the top! Glad you dig the baked maple...not my cup of tea, but the Burstbuckers are an awesome set of pickups.

I hate to sound this way, but that's why I prefer Fender guitars. I have played many Strats and Teles in the past 3 months and have never handed any of them back to the salesperson with a negative comment.
I have played more than my share of Les Pauls with loose pickups, finish flaws, 3-way switches that were broken, etc. It really is a crime for these defects to be present in a guitar with a $1000 pricetag hanging on it.
For that same amount of cash, I can buy a Strat or a Tele and know I'm getting a damn good guitar.

I was jamming last night.
Reminded myself I have never played a Gibson, Ricken, Gretsch guitar.
I can only remember playing Fenders and my first acoustic was a Sears Silvertone.
That's it.

Pretty much the same with Fender amps. I do have some non-Fenders
Peavey Vypyr 30w amp head, Pignose Hog 20w, two solid state Marshalls,
everything else is Fender. Toppscore 8)

Pretty much my sound has been a Strat through a Peavey Delta Blues for the past 10 years. Just got into playing my PRS McCarty (which blows away the new LPs) and my new Fender Hot DeVille. Also started playing Teles again.

Sad for the OP if he is a Gibson lover,
but I HAVE NOT been reading much love towards Gibsons, lately.
Poor quality out of the box, etc.

I do have my eyes on a Black Beauty or a Nighthawk
as my first Gibson, . . . . . long down the road.
