Just bought my first real Stratocaster today! it is a 2012 American Standard body and an older American Deluxe Neck,, why someone would do this, I don't know? But I got a great deal!, plays and sounds amazing!!!..looking over the the specs. on the the American Standard body, It lists: "Special Electronics: No-Load Tone Control"! what does this mean?? I did notice at full open or at the "10" position,, there feels like a lock or set feeling? maybe true bypass in that area???
but my question is: what does "No-Load Tone Control" mean????
Thank you!

Special Electronics:
""""No-Load Tone Control""""
Controls:
Master Volume, Tone 1. (Neck Pickup), Tone 2. """No-Load Tone Control""" (Middle and Bridge Pickups)

It means the tone control is bypassed, out of the circuit, resulting in a brighter sound.

How do you know the neck has been changed? Did you buy the guitar new or used?

I bought it used $625.00,,, for sure know the neck is an American Deluxe,,,locking tuners,,roller nut, fancy inlays and logo,,,body does not have the cut or rolled heel at the neck joint, and also does not have the S-1 switching, and somewhat floating bridge,,,
all Indicaters point towards 2012 American Standard body too, aged parts,,,pick-ups, plus the dude told me he did the swap, seen what he did!,,,had a bunch of new Strats. with parts changed,,,why some one would do this is a good question! good for for me!! this Strat. has amazing tone!!! I've never owned a guitar with single coils before,,,,always had super strats,,,newer USA Charvel's and a few USA Jacksons all 2006 on up,,still have em...own several USA P-Basses as well....
I have noticed huge tone change on my new strat. when I have the tone turned down to like "2" really beefs up the bridge pick-ups tone,,very classic Strat tone...really cool!
Thank you for your reply!

You might want to post some photos of the body with the pickguard pulled off, the underside of the pickguard, the neck, headstock (front and back) and neck pocket. Easy to fake a Strat and given the rather odd provenence of this guitar, better to be safe than sorry.

Welcome to the forum. To post photos you need to put them up on a site like photobucket or flicker; then you can post them up (for example, photobucket has links that already have the IMG codes).

You can't go only neck S/N. It's close, but bot always the most accruate. My '04 50 Anniversary Series Strat has a '03 S/N, but I know it was made in '04 because I bought in brnad new. My '01 Clapton Strat I ordered on in January '01 and received in February '01 has an '00 S/N. Last, but not least, my '07 Hwy1 I bought in August '07 has an '06 S/N.

Fender S/N do tend to overlap a little.

bluesky636 gave a good explanation for the "No Load" tone pot.

OK..now we know what No-Load Control means...another concern was if the body was indeed an 2012 American Standard and the neck being an American Deluxe,,the neck is not a 2011,,,but a 2004 ,,hopefully these pictures will help I.D. the body
