So you'd recommend the above four humbuckers to match with my GFS 12k, right?

Absolutely. All four of those choices would do very well with your bridge and middle setup. I've run into people who have the problem of trebly pickups in the neck before. You don't get that deep rich flavor out of them in the neck. All of these are all well rounded for clean and distorted work. The Duncans scoop the mids a little so you get some treble coming through. The Gibsons are very rich in bass and mids and the treble is held back a little. It's all about that thought in your head about what you would prefer at that point. I would also get either an orange drop cap, or no load tone pot (or both), to clean things up just a bit. Typical stock caps have a murkiness to them that is unfavorable in my opinion, and it doesn't cost much to correct that problem. With any of those, you will be able to balance your outputs just fine.

Concerning your venture into hums, I think you're really going to love it. Keep in mind, too often people forget that a guitar's place in a mix, for the most part, really is midrange. To blast a whole lotta treble at people can make things not so pleasing to the listener at times. If you embrace your midranges, especially live, they will no doubt be more pleased. They may not know it, or understand why, but it's a guitarists job to know it, and understand why. Your Super 3 could very well end up working nicely for you.

I get compliments and questions from other guitarists after our shows all the time about my sound, and it's a nice humbling experience that I'm grateful for. But really, my trick is simply to not blast holes into my audience with treble. there are a few chosen spots where it may be necessary for artistic purposes, but for the most part, I strategically utilize my midranges more than anything else. When it calls for sharp treble, I'll click on my wah, or use an eq for that.

Good luck. Let us know how your experimenting turns out ok.

No, certainly not. EMGs are active pickups and require batteries in order to work properly.

Of course you can use an active circuit with passive pickups.

It's strongly advisable to use hum-cancelling pickups (noiseless, lace sensors, kinmans, dimarzio areas) to avoid noise problems. Otherwise you might consider placing an internal dummy coil beneath the pickguard for noise reduction if you prefer using regular pickups with the mid boost circuit.

Dang, Chromeface. Silly me. I went to EMG and both humbuckers
are "active" with battery circuitry. I knew this before you posted. Sorry.

Now I'm sure it's the Seymour Duncan LiveWire with the
internal 9-volt preamp that does not requrire a batterey. Toppscore 8)

Thanks again.
Not only am I a Fender Man, but I am a Bass Man.
Enjoy the bass & mids over treble, anyday.
Just gotta get used to what I have.

Allright. Problem solved.
Gotta research those four to make a decision.
Between the two guitars, three humbuckers and the GFS 12k,
keep all "as is" except to swap-out the HFHell.

Therefore, only one humbucker to buy and install. Simple as that.
I know a place were I can dime/crank up my 100(+)w amps
and will see how all goes.

Jah. Thank you so much. Toppscore :)

Jah. Points well taken.
Yes. INS is a major band problem *Irritable Noise Syndrome)

I sold my Fender Jazz bass a few months ago . . . . .

Loved it, but could not resist an incredible offer.

Bass guitar and bass sounds are in my mind.
Humbuckers first.
Microtonal & Jazz guitar second.
Then . . . . .

Even active pickups require a battery to work properly.

Nice Jazz Bass you posted here, early American Deluxe 5-string in Crimson Red Transparent.

This bass is one of the very early American Deluxes to sport single-pole humbuckers. John Suhr designed these pickups for Fender in 1995.

The JS-designed single poles were replaced by two dual-coil Ceramic Jazz Noiseless Bass pickups in 1999, so I think that Jazz dates from mid-to-late 1998.

Fender switched from 5-in-line to 4+1 tuners in 2002; reflecting those cosmetic changes, an asymmetrical neck heel and 5-bolt neck plate were added. Additionally, the active 3-band EQ was upgraded and the power supply increased to 18V.

Finish is called Crimson Red Transparent.

Looks like a darker Candy Apple Red hue but it isn't.

Body was crafted from premium ash, not alder. Fender used transparent finishes on ash bodies.

Perhaps John C could provide more details about the American Deluxes from that period.
