The guitar in question is definately not a '62. If it' a '65 then it would be a Fender Custom Shop guitar. Having said that, all the FCS '65s I've seen online have the small headstok. I would want to see paperwork and more pictures.

If it's an actual '65 Strat then I'd want to see the inside of the guitar to check neck date and body date if there is one. Also Fender attached a rod to the body at the neck joint (lick a lolypop stick) to hold the bodies while they painted them. You would see a section of the body that hasn't been painted (where the rod was attached).

Many '65 Fender Strats had the Transition logo like the one shown in the picture with the smaller headshock, but Fender officially switch over to the big headstock in Dec '65, so it would be a rare bird indeed. 99% of the '65 Strats I've seen all have the small headstock.

This could be someone's porject guitar. If it is then you'll learn the truth when you remove the neck. Somewhere on the neck and body will be the actaul manufacturer's logo.

I'd want more information before I put down some money. Do a lot of homework before you buy.

thank you-paris. i can't open up the guitar.. it's in US and i am in israel,so that is a problem :/ maybe i can ask the seller if he can open it and take some photos. i have some more photos if it might help, but frankly.. if i can't see the inside-it's really a "pig in a poke"
i can tell that the tuners seems like they have been replaced (if the guitar is original) also, the neck plate that don't have a serial number.
here are some more photos-

The pickguard is incorrect for both a '65 and a '66 -- both in its composition and its screw-hole pattern.

Thanks for the other photos. The neck plate would right for a '65, but that can be bought online anywhere. The pickup covers and knobs look like they have been replaced as well. They are Fender aged parts.

The tuning keys looks right for a '65 as well, but I agree they are not actual '65 tuning teys.

I'd also have him send some photos of the pickups as well. If they are original they will be gray colored bobbins (the pickup base). I would think that the CS would do the same thing. Actually my CS '68 pickups are Gray bobbins.

I'm also concerned about the way the paint is chipping. Vintage Fender guitars used nitrocellulose paint and late poyester, which is more durrable. The chipping on this guitar looks more like a modern paint job.

It's got a slab fretboard. From late '62 to the mid '80s all Strats with rosewood fretboards had round laminate/veneer fretboards. CBS never made a big head rosewood slab board neck so that neck has to be from the '90s or newer.

+1

As well, the 12th fret dot spacing is incorrect for a CBS-era instrument.

This thing is as phony as a seven-dollar bill.

To quote several Star Wars characters, "I've got a bad feeling about this."

The more I see the more I'm convinced this is a parts-o-caster. I have no issue with parts-o-casters, even with Fender logos, but the seller needs to be honest with you. Another answer might be that he bought it without knowing it's true origins.
