If you mean replacing a two post style bridge plate with a vintage six screw style bridge plate, yes it can be done. Several have done it. However it requires a fair amount of work as the old holes need to be filled and new holes drilled in the correct location for accurate tuning and intonation.

I took it to mean that he wanted to replace the current American Standard bridge with the bent steel saddles with an original American Standard bridge that featured the steel block saddles. If that's the case, it's a simple 1-for-1 swap.

Sure if he is swapping with a two-screw style bridge that uses bent steel saddles, but I don't consider that the "original" style bridge. The OP needs to clarify what he wants to do.

I just realised its more so the bridge saddles that make it look more vinatge. Is there anctually any benefit difference between either the new bridge/saddles and the old vintage style look? Ive noticed alot of new strats still come with the old bridge...

When they upgraded the American Standard line, Fender switched from the original block-style saddle to the vintage styled bent steel saddles. IMO, Fender should have left it alone, but the only production models that still use the block saddles is the American Deluxe and of course you can get it on certain Custom Shop models. But having said that, you can easily swap bridges or get aftermarket saddles.

Some people say the bent steel saddles sound more "Fendery". FWIW, I use Guitar Fetish stainless steel saddles on all my Fender type bridges and am very happy with them. Just keep in mind that if you do not swap your entire exisiting bridge for the "modern" two post bridge with bent steel saddles, you will have to replace your exisiting saddles with bent steel that use an offset intonation screw. I don't know if Fender offers those, but Callaham does.
