Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and need some clarification about switching my tremelo block. I own a American Standard Left Handed Strat 2011 and I want to change my tremolo block with a Vintage one because I heard the vintage is bigger than the new one and it has more sustain...(looking for a Number One SRV sound) I checked over the internet and found : FENDER Vintage Tremolo STEEL Bridge Block, LEFT HANDED.
Fender Part number: 003 8962 000
My problem is that some people say it wont fit in my strat because it's a 2011 one and some other people say it doesn't matter and yes it's gonna fit...
Since I'm completely new with Fender's guitar I just wanna to know the truth and if this block don't fit, what are my options???
Thank you!
Jonathan

No, it won't fit. String spacing is different.

Search the forum for replacement trem blocks. There are many threads on the subject and they can become quite testy due to the personal opinions of many people here regarding the major suppliers.

Switching out your block won't make you sound like SRV. I don't think it will effect your sound at all. But good luck with that.

The callaham blocks are very nice, but i am not sure if they come left handed.
there isn't a huge sound difference in blocks, but the Derlin bushing in these makes them worth it

Changing out the trem block in a 2011 Am Std Strat seems like a waste of time and $$ but to each their own... Is there a problem with not enough sustain in your Strat?

Which why I suggested a search as opposed to yet another callaham vs GFS vs everyone else trem block thread.

For more sustain, you might try a Fender Fat Finger like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Fat-Fing ... 0621334676

Well if they can use it in a Boeing 747 for trim, why not in a Strat?
