Horrified at some of the pics that show the INSIDE of the guitar. Not sure if this is legit.

Looks to be legit to me. But new pickups not withstanding, it is just an american standard with a painted headstock...a cool color for sure, but not all that special. If you can get it for $600 $700 range that would be about an average price for it. Good luck.

So they are not really that great/rare? Thinkin' about getting a '57 reissue in green but this one seemed a bit cheaper and when it said "rare" I thought it might be a better investment.

Not really that rare...I would go with the 57 Reissue in Surf Green myself. And as a general rule, don't buy a newer guitar for an investment. There are much better places for investment money than guitars.

Now if you want a guitar to play and will at least retain its value or go up slightly, I would certainly go with the 57 in Surf Green. I have an 1982 57 Vintage Reissue Strat and I have enjoyed it from day one and these early ones have retained thier value and even gone up in price a bit, but I treasure it for all the gigs it has played with me and it has never let me down once.

I am looking at a very similar strat in Surf Green.

They are asking $950, but given the comments I received on the above thread, that seems a bit high.

I agree, dont buy a guitar as an investment. Buy it because you like the way it plays/looks. Guitars are rarely an actual money making investment.
