You have to love it badly enough to want it. In 2008 I paid $1850 for a Pewter Clapton with '08/09 numbers. This guitar was 8/10 with respect to quality of finish and metal parts. Not a speck of oxidation on it. I figured that someone was eventually going to own that guitar and it might as well be me. I'm not disappointed. I wasn't able to make the same move at the time with repect to a '64 Vibroverb Custom in similar condition. Don't know if I'll ever see an opportunity like that again with respect to that amp.and the seller was about 30 min N of me.

Many, many moons ago, Jeff Beck had asked Fender to build him a Strat finished in the color of the yellow hotrod in the film "American Graffiti"...hence the name 'Graffiti Yellow". This was in the time frame, not only of the movie, but of the inception of the Plus Series guitars and concept of the Signature Series instruments. Beck was offered the first opportunity for that on the Strat Plus but he declined. If you reference A.R.Duchossoir's book on the Stratocaster, you'll find this history within as well as a nice photo of an '88 Plus with a maple neck [my preference]in that finish. One of our members, about a year ago, I believe, had the Custom Shop build a Stratocaster for him, in that finish. Beautiful guitar.

With respect to the TV yellow finish, it was developed by Gibson for Les Paul's TV guitars, apparently because white was too bright for the electronic cameras of that era.
If you Google 'TV Yellow' and go into the website "Guitar ReRanch" you'll find the whole store plus more.

It's definitely a rare bird but apparently still available from Fender on order.

For you perhaps. I'm not a fan of doing that to guitars. But I'm nearly 70. What the hell do I know. I come from a time when one's gear had to look pristine on stage, as did the band members.
