Why does that never seem to be an option?

Because it takes time. People today seem to have no sense of deferred gratification.

Fender uses Polyurethane, not polyester.

..big difference

I've been wanting info on artificially aging the plastic parts on my Standard 3-tone.

The stark white doesn't look right, but then neither do any other color schemes I've seen on this burst design.

I'd rather not have to buy new parts.

Thank you for bringing this back.

Before anyone thinks I posted a dead link up above, it worked 5 years ago.

We don't have as much relicing discussion as we used to.

A real good way to relic a body is to drag it slowly around in a parking lot.

Repeat the process for the neck.

Then soak all your hardware and plastics in a big pan of old coffee for 48 hours...

Will that get both sides and edges?
Concrete, asphalt, or other make a difference?

Let's see, remove the neck and hardware. I think you'd want to leave a pickguard on it because under the pickguard doesn't normally get very worn.
I had a couple of Mexican bodies hanging around that could have been test cases, but I sold them.

Yep :)

I think the Custom Shop uses a 57 Chevy.
And 3 day old coffee.

Strip all the finish off, realise you just ruined a perfectly good guitar, sell it on ebay for a third the price you paid for it, learn from your mistake, never do it again.

Personally I like to tie my strats to the back of my dirt bike and drag them about twenty miles over mountain trails and then through a couple of creeks. Just don't forget to take it out of the case before performing this task or it might take thirty miles to really give it that beautiful relic look.
