Yeah I know the HSS are the only deluxe with the roller nut, but it would be great to have one on my SSS deluxe.
I may have one installed by my local luthier anyhow. : )

The guitar you're talking about is also available with a humbucker in the bridge, tortoise guard and rosewood fretboard.

There's no blonde finish, only natural.

I just picked one of these up on closeout at Sam Ash in store. Holy cow! Amazing guitar. :D The neck is so nice. I had no idea I could play so well. I love the compound radius and narrow jumbo frets. I think this guitar was a real sleeper. It's just got a full boat of features and amazing playability that tops anything I have ever tried. I even like the pickups. Sure, they are a bit different from true single coils but they make really sweet sounds, even in my hands.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank all you snobby Fender forum guys who are always urging people to try an American Deluxe. You were right. 8)

Here is a pic:

Both Aztec Gold and Ice Blue Metallic were not available as standard colour options on the US Deluxe series. Perhaps Fender will add those finishes as standard colours a couple of years later.

Thanks guys. Yes I think these FSR's might be useful for Fender to decide whether a particular color is worth doing on a larger scale. In the case of Aztec Gold, I'd suppose it wasn't too successful because here it is the end of 2013 and I was able to find a new 2012 still on the shelf. Of course the frets being different might be a confounder.

I also suspect that Aztec gold is difficult to photograph for the internet. I know I had some trouble getting a decent pic. The color is much more impressive in person, when you can see the light interacting with the metallic paint and the pickguard.

I've got to confess if I'd had the choice I might have gone with another color but I'm thinking I might just slap a little American flag on it for some more Dick Dale vibe and call it a day.

Fellow Aztec Gold FSR Strat owners!

We have cause for celebration. Our fine guitar has made the cover of the Stratocaster book. :D
