I posted a different thread on this guitar, but had another question about it. I noticed the tuning machines are different than any I've seen on any other Strat before. Has anyone ever seen these tuning machines/keys? I kind of like them, but I also really prefer the vintage machines.

I have two of those Plus Deluxes and both have those tuners.

Oops.

I'll try to pay closer attention in the future... thanks for the response.

This guitar was among the first Pluses to bear an LSR Roller Nut. It does have the transitional logo on the head and Sperzel locking machine heads. Tuners changed from Sperzels to Schallers during the second half of 1993.

Fender switched to the early 50s spaghetti decal in 1994/95.

FYI the pickguard is not stock. Only the Natural Deluxe Pluses came with the tortoiseshell pickguard.

Actually those satin finish tuners are Schallers, not Sperzels - you can tell by the shape of the wheel on the back. Fender has used Sperzels, but the vast majority of Strat Plus, Strat Plus Deluxe, Strat Ultras, and Jeff Beck Sigs have Schallers. On the flip side the Strat Ultra I was going to buy back in 1992 was an odd one with chrome Sperzels instead of chrome Schallers (I wound up buying a PRS instead of the Ultra).
