Good day fellow aficionados Strat owners! So, I've been using my Blacktop Stratocaster for several weeks now live. It's alright... I love the 'single coil' sound but the Humbuckers can tend to sound a bit muddy. I had to compensate with my Marshall Valvestate on the treble knob. I A/Bed this with my Ibanez SA with DiMarzio Mo'Jo and this is way more 'clear' sounding and has that bite I'm looking for. My Blacktop sounds like I have a blanket on my amp :( I read somewhere here's it's due to the Pickups being 'over wounded'? Any ways to get around with this?

So, what's a good Humbucker pickup for Strats? Are there any 'special' config that the guitar tech should know to 'split' the coil on 2nd and 4th position? There's a slight volume drop on the split coil though ...

Thanks in advance!

Start by adjusting the pickup height in relation to the strings. Adjust until you find a tone you like.

Good idea bluesky636

After trying various heights on my pups, and decking the bridge with five springs and trem-claw screwed down tighter, I changed the bridge block to a Callaham, and the tone is much improved now, with more high-end sparkle, not nearly as dark sounding. I decked the bridge first, then changed the block, so I am sure that most all of the brighter tone came from the new block. The stock cast block really dulls the sound.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

The problem is probably due to a poor wiring issue.
