You've only got 47 posts. Stick around. You'll see stuff a lot crazier than that.

If I adjust the trussrod or the saddle heights or pickup heights does any of that count as a modification? It's not the way it came from the factory anymore.

Actually Corona California has a much different temperature and humidity than where I live so the wood may have lost or gained some moisture and expanded or contracted with temperature so it's no longer the same as it left the factory. Could be a difference measured in microns but a difference nonetheless.

Come to think of it, the guitar has changed hands at least twice since it came from the factory; once when the retailer bought it from FMIC and once more when I bought it from the retailer. That may not be a physical difference but it's at least a legal difference.

STRATOCASTER® ADJUSTMENT AND CARE

The following setup procedures and specifications are for your Stratocaster as equipped with the strings that come on the instrument as standard equipment from the factory. If you plan to change string gauges, you may need to adjust the specs somewhat to compensate for the changes in string sizes. Modifications of the specs may also be made (within limited parameters) to adjust for your individual playing style or application (i.e., how hard you pick, strum or fret the guitar).

Note: These are minimum specifications that are meant as a guide; they should not be construed as hard and fast rules, as we realize that every player's subjective requirements often differ.

...I rest my case.

I own a 2010 Highway One Stratocaster. It was modified at the factory with D'Addario 10-46's instead of getting the specified Fender Super Bullet 9-42's. I modded it further and put GHS 8.5-40's on it. So, it's 89% original. Therefore, I have 0% 100% original Stratocasters. Sorry!

all 4 of my electrics are standard, i must be the exception !!

the only thing changed on my strat are the pickguard screws, when one drunken night me and my bass player thought gold wood screws would look better

Image

i think its a combination of being happy with them, but also not using them enough tow arrant spending out on new pickups etc. if i did, the strat would get new pickups, the 72 custom a new bridge pickup, and the JA90 new pots OR pickups. and a bigsby.

I have an '11 American Special Strat with only a string change. To me it's original since I consider strings consumable and a matter of personal choice.

I have five Strats, only one is original, and it's an Ibanez JEM so it's inherently modified i guess. Also one is a home made job from random internet parts, so that's sort of original; i haven't changed it since i made it. Depends on how nit picky you are.

Lost count. Seriously. Tweaked this, massaged that, buffed this, painted that, replaced this, did away with that. The old lady lets everybody know when they ask "How many now?". "Too-many!!!!" Hence forum name/handle too-many-strats.... If Fender could put EVERYTHING I want in a Strat, It'd be the size of a VW bus and 2 tons weight.

Right On.....Very well said......
