Jonas,

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new guitar.

If you can post some photos it would be helpful - that serial number could match to several Fender models from the 1993-1994 era.

If the guitar is an American Std., then here is some basic iformation:
1. Body: most likely alder
2. Neck: Maple with or without a rosewood fret board.
3. Pickups: Am. Std. with 6 flush magnets.
4. two point bridge.
5. "Swimming pool" pickup cavety (a big rectangle cut out of the body where the pickups sit).
6. The guitar was made in the United States.
7. Am. Std. Tuners.
8. TBX tone pot in the bridge position.
9. Polyurothane finish.

Production of this guitar ended in 2001 and was replaced by the American Series Stratocaster.

Some more photos would be helpful - from the headstock the neck is from a 1994 American Standard - all American Standards assembled during the calendar year 1994 had that "40th Anniversary" medal on the front of the headstock. It should also have a neck plate that says "40 Years and Still Rocking" on it.

Otherwise all the specs that paris posted would be correct for it. I'll add that it is possible the body could be poplar - Fender was having issues sourcing alder at that point in time.

Not an Am Std bridge - six screw. Likely not an Am Std body either.

Maybe an Am Std neck on some other body. The pictures are missing all of the details that would help identify. Truss rod plug, neck plate, back of guitar, entire guitar in one pic...

I agree- after seeing these shots it is at best an American Standard neck on some other body, and based on these shots I would like to see the entire headstock including the truss rod plug just to verify that it really is a 1994 American Standard neck. Decals can be faked and that "40th Anniversary" medal can be added. If we can get the other shots then we have a better chance at saying what the guitar really is.

I remember that, but I couldn't remember what year that was. It was time when Fender used laminate tops for sunbursts. Dark days indeed.

Actually the Am. Std. was a great guitar. I think the American Series was better, and the new Am. Std. is the best of the whole lot.

This photo clearly indicates that it is not an American Standard body as there is no hole for the Microtilt.

I'll have to check this out tonight; unfortunately the site that photo is posted on is blocked where I'm at right now. I'm assuming it appears that the neck is a legit '94 American Standard neck?

Only a closeup of the neck plate, which appears to be a 40th, but also shows that there is no hole in the body for the tilt-adjust, further proof that it is not an Am Std body. So far, at best he has the neck and plate from a 40th, more detailed pictures could verify that.
