Hi! I had always wanted to come down Christmas morning and find a electric guitar under the tree despite protests from my parents that girls did not play "those". Well this Christmas I figured I had given "Santa" his last shot and that he was a sexist and darn it I was gonna have a red one with walnut color frets but lighter color wood for neck, bright red with white flare pickguard with flare type ends under my tree this year, sorry but after 40 Christmas's of disapointment I fell in love with one in store. They told me they thought it was twelve years old, it says Fender, in big letters, Stratocaster in smaller print and at top "original contour body" it has 3 pickups a volumn then tone then another tone control with a shifter, some newer pickups they said so no whammy needed. It has a sticker on back, which is light whitish brown with a dark brown stripe down the back. The sticker says Z5041350 what can I find out about this guitar? American or Mexican, American I think for some reason but what year etc? Any help is appreciated ahead of time! thanks, Irishwabbit

No, it doesn't. That just tells you where it was made and what year.

Chet has definitely put you into the 'pipeline' for the Highway One's and the old American Standards in terms of dates and locations. If Chet doesn't have a more detailed index of serial numbers for those guitars in that time frame at his disposal, there may be someone else in the Forum who does.

If you have the technology to send the Forum full front and back photos of the intrument and, in particular, a closeup of the finish, that might help us come up with an answer for you.

Certainly, the expertise is here. You came to the right place.
