Hi,

I am currently offered to buy a fullerton 62 ri stratocaster. Nevertheless, the neck is dated from 1983 and the pots from the end of 1984.

Would it be possible that the neck was stored for more than one year ?

I mean, is the date written on the neck at the date of the production, or is this done later, when the guitar is finally assembled ? In the first case (date written at the date of assembly), the guitar can't be original, but if the date is written the day when the neck is made that could be ok !

Yes I think , I have a 1979 / 1980 Stratocaster , neck and body are from 1979 and pots are made in 1980.

I would say no...Production of this model during that period was not that high (unlike earlier 79/80 mentioned earlier) they were doing these pretty slowly so don't see a neck sitting around that long...is it possible? Yes, but not very likely.

But tell me, T2 Statman, I do not know this particular guitar, but Fender guitars are very similar in shape. Fender may take any neck or body. Not?
In this case, it would have nothing to do with a small or a big production. They are neck and a body that can serve any Fender model.
What is your opinion?

Stratele52...The 62 Reissue Stratocaster was a unique model in the line up at that time. This was Fenders first Reissues and they were relearning alot about using Nitro Cellulose laquers and going back to vintage specifications on this line (Along with the 57 Maple Neck reissue, the 52 Tele, and eventually the 57 Precision and 62 Jazzbass). So this neck would only fit the 62 and 57 reissue bodies of the time for most part.

All neck heel stamps/dates are date of the production day(neck).
Neck pocket and backside of the heel stamps(70s) are date of assembly.

Cheers,
Robin
