I am wiring up a Strat with a Clapton boost kit. I want to use a S1 volume switch to activate all pickups at once. I can't figure out the S1 with the boost kit. Anybody know how?

For starters, the Clapton boost kit uses a 50K ohm volume pot. The S-1 pot only comes in 250K or 500K ohm options. Consequently, neither value can be used as a volume pot with the Clapton boost. You'd have to replace the guts of an S-1 pot with the guts of the 50K pot or you'd have to get rid of the TBX pot and have the S-1 as your master tone control. If you are prepared to do this, we'll continue.

Getting rid of the TBX isnt a problem.

Alrighty then:

Yank the TBX and wire in the S-1's pot as a 'normal' master tone. Use the 250K version.

Next, you would be using the switch part of the S-1 in conjunction with the pickup selector switch. Meaning, as you know, ordinarily, you can have two of the three pickups on via positions two or four of the pickup selector switch. The S-1 would be used to add the third pickup in. So, decide whether you want to add the third pickup in while the selector switch is engaged in position two or four and we'll continue.

You're quite welcome!

When you say, "position 4", I'm presuming you mean this to be the 'normal' combination of neck and middle pickups on together.

Moving right along: Premising you now have the "pot part" of your S-1 fully functioning as your master tone, look at the bottom of the S-1 switch. You will see a round disk with groups of three terminals bordering the "north, south, east and west" portions of the disk.

Arbitrarily, I'm going to us the "north" group.

Solder a wire from the center terminal of the north group to where you have the bridge pickup wired to the pickup selector switch. Next, solder a wire to the left terminal of the group to the terminal on the pickup selector switch where the existing wire leads from the switch to the pot. That's it.

You'll now also be able to have a Tele sound too. Meaning, with your selector switch in position #5 (neck pickup only), by pushing down on the S-1, you'll be able to have the neck and bridge pickups on.

Enjoy!
