Hey guys,

I own a fender standard strat and i am encountering a big problem. I have changed the initial height of the pickups because i didnt have that signature fender sound (or at least the sound i was hearing from other standard strats on utube). The initial height of the pickups was really close to the strings and as a result i was experiencing too much noise-feedback from the amp when i had to use distortion sounds. The neck and the middle position pickups didnt have much sounding difference and the low position pickup was so extremely trembled- high pitched, it was annoying to human ears (surely not that desired dry strat low pickup sound). In a few words, i have tried many pickup positions but either its too low and it has faded sound(but no bad feedbacks) or it is middle to high positioned giving me extremely trebled boosted sounds even in middle pickup (not to mention the trebling hell when using the low pickup). What can i do in order to achieve at least a decent fender sound?? ( I dont now if this helps but my tremolo is being positioned completely down because i dont use it much , maybe this affects the guitar's sound combined with the pickups?) Im looking forward to your reply and I am apologizing in advance for my bad English.

Thanks

Im using a Vox ac 15 which has only tone cut no other eq settings! Im having the tone cut knob completely turned on the side which blocks all the treble. I believe that the problem is bad guitar set up...

hi , pickup hights wouldn't alter the sound of the pups , they wouldn't become more trebly the closer to the strings or further away from the strings , have you tried to reduce the mid and treble knobs on the amp ? cheers
Alan

Set the height to the following to get you pickups to sound right in all positions depress the strings at the last fret closest to the bridge and set them at...

Base side 3mm
Treble Side 3/32"

I find that on American Fender pickups this is about the ideal position for 5 very different tones. YMMV

yes ofc i play with almost zero treble on my amp ( i told you that on my last message!) Maybe the sound would get better if i fix my tremolo which is now completely attached to my guitar body?

Try it w/a different amp, or maybe an eq box w/your amp first. I'm a little sceptical that it's the pups causing such a severe tone problem. Adjust the pups as prescribed. I have my bridge flat on the body. No such problems as you mention.

hi , try plugging into the top boost channel and turning down the treble
http://www.voxamps.com/images/custom/lg-ac15c1-top.jpg , other than that try a eq pedal and see how that goes , it's a strange one  , cheers
