Post subject: Info on a USA fender strat?

Alright guys,

Just come across this guitar in my local music shop, was wondering if anyone could shed any light on it, as the guy in the shop is suggesting that it's a 2005 model, yet I get the impression that the serial number suggests late 1997/early 1998? Any other info to go on from there??
Also how much would this be worth, roughly?
