Is it just wrong to play rock music with a Fender Stratocaster? It's probably wrong trying to play heavy metal with a strat, but I'm not talking about metal stuffs here. I wanted to play some songs like Sweet Child O Mine / November Rain / or some other Slash's songs with my guitar. Maybe what you want to do is really up to you, but I just have seen some people cover the song Sweet Child O Mine with a Strat, and it's actually not bad, but people would just assume "this looks so wrong with a Strat", cz they think the guitar is for blues etc I guess. BTW my guitar model is Fender 1957 Reissue Strat MIJ Since 1993, with Lindy Fralin Blues Special pickups. Is it rockable at all..? Also is there an specific distortion / other pedal I should get that's good for Strat to play some Rock music? My Strat:

The choice of weapon is up to you.
A guitar is a guitar, some people sound weak playing a Les Paul through a cranked Marshall stack, some people make a normal Stratocaster sound like a wall of guitars.
There´s no wrong choice if you play it well and make it sound good.

Cheers,
Robin

Richie Blackmore didn't think so. Neither did Jimi Hendrix

Let's see......

Les Paul played ...a Les Paul
Bill Carson played a Stratocaster

Jeff Beck has played both
Tommy Bolin has played both
Clapton has played both

Mathias Jabs plays a Strat
Vince Gill plays a Strat
Malmsteen plays a Strat
Knopfler plays a Strat

Check back into the last 50 years of Rock / Rhythm & Blues / Heavy Metal / Blues / Country and all the other genre's..You will find as many different players in just about every guitar out there....Just on the Fender website, the list of endorsee's covers a wide range of modern music...

I listen to a crapload of different genres, and guess what guitar I seen in just about all of them? The Strat. There's no "limit" or anything on what genres you can play on a guitar... You can play whatever on a Strat. Mostly depends on the player and their fingers. ;)

Not only is it wrong, but it's also a mortal sin because rock music is of the devil...stick to the funk instead :) . Nice Strat, buy the way (I think that every guitar player should own a black Strat with a maple neck; it's just such a classic look).

It really depends on what's under the hood and the player. I can play Rock, Blues, or Metal on all my Strats. My Highway 1 and Blacktop are my 2 most versatile guitars.

I've been playing all kinds of rock on Strats for the last 25 years. IMO no other electric guitar can cover as broad a range of styles as the Fender Stratocaster.

Strap it on and let it fly!! No one has ever told me that I couldn't play this or that with a Strat. The way I see it... Guns & Roses on a Strat, no problem! Now it would be a different story (IMO) if you tried to play SRV on a Les Paul...

I don't think that the OUTPUT of a Metal Zone MT-2 depends a whole lot on what guitar is plugged into the INPUT side. 8)

The Strat works for Gary Moore and I usually play Still Got the Blues on my maple neck Strat! Just go for it and don't give a crap about what the audience might think about your choice of guitars!

Yes. And they should've stopped making organs after Bach died as well.
