Hi guys

I know these two finishes are nothing alike, but I am trying to make a choice out of the two, for my next Strat, as they are two of my favourite finishes.

I keep leaning towards one.. then the other, and was just wondering which of these two you lot preferred?

Something along the lines of these two:

Thanks in advance for any help swinging it one way or the other

There are no opinions to be had here. Fiesta red is the correct answer. No 2TSBs should ever be attached to rosewood boards.

WRONG! Opinions are to be had aplenty, here, that's why the OP asked! ;-)

SUNBURST! HANDS DOWN! Fiesta Red is just Fugly!

A black PG/PuP Covs, and knobs can't even help improve its aesthetic...

Oh, and as far as the Rosewood/Maple? I'd tend to agree on keeping the 2TSB with a Maple neck, but personal pref... I, personally, prefer Rosewood necks, but some Strats just SCREAM for the Maple neck...

Fiesta Red is a great color, but sunbust with either maple or rosewood is simply classic! I love two tone sunburst, and to be honest NO ONE does a sunburst as nice as Fender does. IMHO of course. One last thing to think on...Fiesta Red can fade to a pinkish color sometimes depending on what kind of finish it is, Nitro Laquer is notorious for this...sunburst on the other hand fades but doesn't really seem to change color much other than sometimes the black fades to a brownish color.

My first guitar was a really cheap sunburst acoustic. Ever since then, I associate any burst with crappy guitars. I'll never buy a sunburst guitar. Besides, I like red guitars, though I believe my '88 American Standard is Torino Red (which is a fantastic color).

Right! The sunburst ages well. Fiesta Red, not so much... It's kinda hot, if "fresh" but gets rather ugly, with age... 'at's all I was sayin'! :-)

OK, so some of the most memorable recordings were done with "crappy" guitars... Whoa! OK, then! ;-)

Besides, the Fiesta Red + Rosewood combo has been played by the likes of Hank Marvin, Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore, Pete Townshend, Eric Clapton and many more. The 2TSB + rosewood look can't be found anywhere probably because it's heinously historically inaccurate. 3TSB + rosewood is a different story.

Thanks for the input guys, it's looking pretty much split down the middle at the moment :)

I've read a couple of negative comments regarding the way in which Fiesta Red ages to a 'pinkish' shade of red. Funny thing is.... this is one thing I actually love about the colour lol.

Something like this '61 for example, really does it for me

Thanks

Nothing beats Fiesta.

Take a look at this John Cruz Masterbuilt:

I prefer 3 TSB's more than other finishes. To each their own and no one is right or wrong with their color choices.

Fiesta. Obviously.

BTW: there's a law that says both of those guitars should have maple fingerboards. And six-screw bridges and one-ply PGs.
