Hi... I'm thinking of changing my 3 knobs (standard mode) stratocaster into 2 knobs... A master volume and master tone...

I really hate the volume knob on my hands way while palm mutes :P

Anyone with this setup :?: Any experience :?:

I think you're right! I also want to install one master tone knob. Here's the basic schematic for this : http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=3s_1v_1t_5w

Good luck !

If you decide to do this, I may be able to help you out
with a pickguard without the volume knob hole.
It is white pearloid standard 11 hole.
Pm me at rocker_41@live.com
If interested. I can give you more detail.
I had it made then decided on a different color
so it is never been used.

Thanks man!! I'll wait to get a new set of pots to make the changes on the guitar... Tell you later how it goes...

I probably won't need the pickguard but thanks :P

If you are going to do that, would also change the tone pot to a TBX for more tonal coloration,..
BTW is it a SSS or a SSH pup configuration...
If the latter, swap the volume for a Push / Pull switch to enable single to dual coil capabilities and you can also rewire to NM, NB, MB, N, B selection...

There's an alternative: HSS with S1 switch, master volume and No-Load tone.

I already make the changes, I took advantage and upgrade the pots and is really cool...

the only thing left is fill the hole of the third pot in the pickguard, any suggestions :?:

Put a small sticker over it.

You could use a rubber or plastic plug which is normally used on cars' trunks after removing the model name.
You get them in different sizes almost every shop with "pimp your car"-stuff. (dunno what these shops are called in English  ).

Car appliances shop? Car accessories shop? Car tuning shop?? I hope you know what I mean???

good news, Rory Gallagher did it to his strat and i did it to one of mine. it is great. also for refrence E.C. has one tone on his, the other is a boost. there may be something to it after all. try it, if you don't like it you can always go back to standard strat wiring. watch some videos of Rory and you will see. it gives the bridge pup the ars it needs.
