Thanks for posting the photos of your guitar.

It's not a limited edition, it was an "upscale" model called "The Strat". It was a regular production model from 1980 through early 1983 - they originally came in the Lake Placid blue like yours and candy apple red; they added some other colors plus a version made of walnut wood along the way. These have that brass bridge, gold plated hardware, and in place of the second tone control is a 2-way rotary switch that changes the wiring - you wind up with 9 settings instead of the normal 5 (kind of an early version of the current S1 switching). These had a hotter bridge pickup (the X-1) that was also used on the Lead II guitars and eventually on the 1982 "Smith" Strat.

These were discontinued in 1983 when Fender brought out the Elite Strat series. Fender didn't have that many models back then - only the "regular" Stratocaster and "The Strat" in 1980 and 1981 (that is after all the 25th Anniversarys were sold). You can think of this as the American Deluxe Strat of its era.

Lots of info on these here:

You'd probably be better off selling it across the pond. They aren't exactly rare and sought after over here. There is one in a local shop that has been sitting for a good while at $1200 that can't sell, which is the equivalent of 765 pounds. 2500 pounds is almost 4,000 dollars, nobody in their right mind would pay that kind of money for that model over here!
