First off hi :D I been checking these forums time to time and decided it was time to register my lazy $@! here =P

Alright now to my problem

Im having a sitoation..i dont know what Strat i should buy. My budget is on 2000$ (American dollars) At nights i cant really sleep coz its all i think of. No im not some insane guy lol. Anyways...

I played many strats and the Deluxe series are really nice, nicest outside the Custom Guitars i guess. Anyways...help me coz im having insanly hard to choose. Recommend something and stuff 8)

For the record i may add Humbuckers on the strat i guess since single coils probbly wont do it for me.

I know most peeps here are serieus and stuff so thatswhy i posted this here :D

If you want a Strat with a humbucker, I'd recommend the Fender American Stratocaster HSS.

US$2000 budget.

Single coils aren't gonna get it.

Can't find one I like.

Sounds to me like you're shopping for the wrong guitar.

Just make sure you get an American one and the rest doesn't matter. I don't care where the guitar came from, just get it set-up to your liking. There aren't really any bad strats, just badly set-up ones! seriously. Ro

This goes for any guitar. My friend owns a few beautiful guitars but he doesn't play that much. One of them is a AAAA carved maple Les Paul, but because it isn't set-up properly it doesn't play like ir should.

the other guy has a point too though... Strats are single coil heaven and although they can be great with a humbucker, perhaps there are other guitars that do this better. If you humbuck a strat then it doesn't sound like a strat.

good luck

I would say try other brands and kinds of guitars, especially since you are interested in humbuckers. You can get a very nice, pretty versatile PRS for 2 grand. Try a Strat Vintage Hot Rod. The bottom line is that you need to find a guitar that you really like, which means you need to get out there and start playing at many guitars as possible. With each guitar you play, you will know a little more about what you want exactly. Good Luck.

Dear fellow addict,

I was just browsing through the forums when I saw your post; it sounds to me like you're in a similar situation that I was in last fall. it can really be overwhelming with all of the choices that are out there; I have played on lots of stuff from Gibson to PRS to Ernie Ball and others. I hope I don't add to the confusion, but rather than use just the type of pick-up that a guitar has for making your decision, here are some key points that I used for my selection ( you can use 'em if they seem at all helpful :D ):

-How long have you been playing; do you need something more for gigging, or is it something to practice with at home?
-who are your favorite muscians? what is it about their sound that you like? what do they do/use to get those sounds and tones?
-most importantly, what kind of sounds and tones sound good to YOU; remember, that no matter how long you have played, or who you are influenced by, your guitar needs to be a tool that expresses YOU. It sounds like you have already got some good advice from the other postings; get out there pick up a few different guitars and put your ears and gut to work...you'll know when you've found the right choice. If after all this you still have strat-fever, check out the Highway One Strat with the HSS pick-up arrangement; not only does it have the humbucker option, but also has alot of other great features that are on more expensive models, and it has a nice price tag on it. and you can use the rest of your cash for putting $3.29 pre gallon gasoline in your car!!! :)

only good solution I know,,

Go to a music store, pick up a guitar , plug it into an amp and play..
If it feel good in your hands ,, sounds good in the amp ,, has a price you can afford ,, buy it ..

If it doesn't have all the above ,,,pick up another one and so on until you get it right..

Stay away from catalog sales,, although most are on the up and up you never know exactly what you'll get until you got and if it's not right you got the hassle of having to return it..

Put it your hands !! Play and Listen !!

With that kind of scratch I would be looking at Custom Shop. You could do real well for yourself buying used. If you need some vendor links let me know!

I agree with jconway: American HSS. It has S-1 switching system, for versatility.

If you want to pick a strat or any guitar you just gotta try a whole bunch and find one that fits what you like to play and to your playing style(s) and genre(s). and then just pick the one that fits that best. thats how i picked out my Aerodyne Strat.
