The "Hot Noiseless" pickups were developed for some guy named Jeff Beck. And are found on his signature guitars.
My experience with the " Hot Noiseless" pickups is that they have a stout output that seems to come alive from light overdrive on up to a healthy, musical, Strat style scream, with heavy overdrive(distortion). Clean, they are slightly stiff in tone, but still quite usable. For live performance, there are very pickups their equal.

If I'm not mistaken they were designed by Bill Lawrence for Fender to put in the Jeff Beck Strat.

Bill and Becky (his wife) are great people. I am considered family by them. They even closed down their shop in Corona one day so that my brother and I could visit them.

If anyone needs a sound sample; checkout Mr. (Jeff) Beck's brillant work on his last couple of albums. Mind you that Jeff Beck would sound great regardless the guitar; but these pickups help translate that wonderous tone and style of Mr. Beck's all the better.

I have them in a AmSe Strat, which is sort of poor man's American Deluxe (locking tuners, new pups), and I love them. These have a bit more bite and meat than the "Vintage Noiseless" (which I also have), but they can be a different sound than the usual strat sound.

For cleaner sounds, I like the "Vintage", for rock tones I prefer the "Hot".

I'm told they can get a little muddy and too far-removed from "that" Strat SC tone. Is this true?

I played a Deluxe Player's Strat which has the noiseless pickups and it sounded pretty good. It still sounded like a Strat.

I have the SCN/S-1 setup also, and IMO they are probably the closest real strat tone...
