After blocking the tremolo to my ADStrat the holes for the strings are no longer accessible so in order to change strings the back cover needs to be removed. Okay, not a big deal and I think the loss of access is a natural consequence of the procedure but since this is the first time I'm doing this I just want to make sure I haven't done anything stupid.

Cheers!

That's correct. I just leave mine off, no problem.

Can you get another tremolo cover that has string hole openings?

Hi, Toppscore. Sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting. After I blocked off the tremolo the opening in the cover for the strings no longer lines up with the opening for the strings in the tremolo. Is there a tremolo cover with a wider opening to accomodate a blocked trem?

Cheers!

I just purchased a backside tremolo cover for a guitar.
In doing my searches, I discovered some variations on hole sizes
from six small holes to six bigger holes to one large thinner hole for all six
to one bigger hole for all six.
So, check around. Not sure of your needs, but you can at least buy the
one with the biggest hole and increase it if you need.
Just a possibility.
Or, make one yourself. Toppscore 8)

By the way, EBay and Warmoth and many online guitar parts stores
have them in various colors and hole options.

Ah, now I understand. Mine has a single slot 7/16" wide by 2-5/16" across which needs to be moved forward or expanded by about 3/16". Actually now that I've taken a closer look I see that a "regular" loop string end (eg. like the ones on Ernie Ball strings) will fit but Fender Original Bullets, what I use, will not.

Putting the two suggestions together, how about a homemade transparent back cover? I think I still have a piece of 1/8-thick plexi from the AC install.

Thanks guys!~
Cheers

Transparent is cool.
Mirrors are cool.
Load in a removable IPad with the screen & controls facing outwards

Or just buy the cheapest back plate you can get and extend the hole with a drill and coping saw.
Couple of dollars to buy and you still have the original back plate to put back on. Problem solved.

I chocked the tremolo block on both sides so that from the front it looks exactly the same, rather than having the plate flat against the body. This kept the holes lined up when I come to change the strings.

This may be an alternative to locking the tremolo block tight to the top of the body.

First thing I do is take off the back cover and throw it in the case. If you must keep the cover on get a rat tail file to stretch the holes.

Well, Blue Monkey.
Did you get your back holes solved?
