Nice. Best part is it looks heavily played.

I own a stripped to wood and played in a bar every night '79 Strat w/ rosewood fret board that has some amazing (and old) Van Zandt True Vintage pickups and a bypass pot to connect the neck and the bridge (as well as activate all three pups). Well worn is a thing of beauty.

Fender saying it knows it's market is like saying all Model T's were black so all cars should still be black. Fender has it's collective brain stuck in one spot. They have proven that beyond a shadow of a doubt in the amp part of their business. The re-issues, relics and the like can be those old traditional colors. That just makes sense. The AS and AD models are modern guitars and they should come in modern colors. Buyers of those models are ALREADY paying a premium and they are also already indicating by not buying a vintage re-issue that they don't want a vintage style guitar. It's not rocket science. Duh.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

All I know is that I desperately want them to do some neon coloured strats. The kind of blues greens orange and purple which would make your grandma cry kinda colours. Thats my dream.

Why not a shmear, burning/ice water or psycho vomit paintjob? These look great on a mamywo/jelutong body.
Not to mention the Drip finishes used by former Masterbuilder John Suhr....

Unfortunately Fender never made guitars in such weird tonewoods. Jelutong is far common with boutique instruments.

Fender did come out with the hollow body Wildwood guitars in the 60s. They weren't very popular and not many were sold.

I never seen a Strat or Tele with those "wildwood" finishes.

They weren't Strats or Teles. They were semi-hollow body (ES335 like) guitars.

Back in the day Fender had other models of fuitarrs besides Strats, Tele, Jaguars and Jazzmasters. Infact there was a time when Strats and Teles were not Fender's flagship instruments, just the most popular.

And the better guitars. Once you go Japanese, you never go back.

I have a question about a Strat I saw and I'm not sure what color it is. Rather than start a new thread about it, this seemed like a good place to ask.

In the video demo for the Mustang Floor demo, there is a man playing a Strat about 3:00 into the video wearing a green striped shirt. I'm not sure what that color is, but the guitar looks somewhere between a light red, or dark orange. Does anyone know if that is a stock Fender color?

Thank you,

Harley

Ironically, I'm the exact opposite. I want Fender to take it back to the golden era days. Cut the BS and just offer:

w/ Maple neck, 1 ply white, 8 hole guard:
- 2TSB
- Black
- Olympic White
- Fiesta Red
- Blonde Transparent (Mary Kaye)

w/ Rosewood neck, 3 ply mint, 11 hole guard:
- 3TSB
- Oly. White
- Fiesta Red
- Sonic Blue

All these other non-traditional, Jade this, metallic that can leave. That, to me, is the American Standard. If you want crazy other colors, then you buy the Deluxe line, Custom Shop, Ultra, whatever. But the American Standard line should've stayed correct. 6 point trem, etc.

All those colors are great, but colors like Blonde and Fiesta Red really don't sell guitars, like 3-color-sunburst and black. I agree that Sonic Blue w/ a rosewood fretboard and 2-color-sunburst (pre-'57) with maple neck are things of beauty.

To this day I'm still kicking myself for not shelling out the $4K for a '62 Strat refinished in Sonic Blue.
