I have a strat that I purchased used. I ran the serial number with Fender and I got back it's a 2006 Classic Player 60's Strat. It does have the correct neck, it has the Custom Shop Designed neckplate. It has grey bobbin pickups initialed AY and dated. The body color is Sonic Blue and that was one of the two colors offered. My problem is it is not equipped with a two point trem like it has listed. My question is did someone swap out the bodies and leave all the good parts, or could I have an early model that was not equiped with the two point trem? Josh with Fender said I should take it to a dealer and see if they could come up with something. I am Posting here first, this is my first post on the forum.

Thanks

Rogers800...Sounds like some changes have been made to your guitar. PICS would certainly help with identifying what is what with your guitar. The pickups sound like they are Custom Shop Abigal Yabarras hence the AY and date. This is a good thing, as for the rest, we need pics, headstock, front and rear, neck pocket, underside of pickguard and inside of body and pics of the trem would sure help to get a little clarity on what you have.

By the way, welcome to the forum.

Rogers800...did some more research based on your photos, looks like what you have is a 60s classic Series Stratocaster, not a Classic Player. Classic Players never had the 6 point bridge and that bridge has not been replaced from the looks of your photos. Looks like someone added the custom shop pickups (cloth covered wire vs. the plastic coated, the AY and date, although they could also be a set of stock 69 Custom Shop pickups from a Classic Player) and a neck plate from the classic players series. The one thing that doesn't line up is your guitar is an '06 by serial number (and CTS Pot Code) but Daphne Blue was NOT offered on the 60s Classic Series, only the 50s Classic Series at least according to the 06 Fender Frontline Catalog. It does not look like a 50s Classic Series body with a different pickguard either. And one last thing, your neck appears to be a 7.25 radius of the Classic Series not the much flatter 12 inch radius of the Classic Player. It also does not have the locking tuners of the Classic Player and those don't look like medium jumbo frets either, look more like the vintage frets of the Classic Series.

Everything except the color of your guitar and neck plate look to be a 60s Classic Series guitar with Custom Shop Pickups added. I compared your photos to my 60s Classic Series (I also added Texas Special Pickups) and everything I see lines up with it, again except the color and neck plate. You certainly have a unique guitar (a real looker too!) and could certainly be a mistake with regards to the neckplate, could have came with the guitar from Fender? Maybe someone can come along with just a bit more difinitive information or documentation.

Thanks for the responses every body. The color was a little odd when I first seen it. It didn't look lite enough to be sonic blue or dark enough to be daphne blue. It didn't have enough green to be surf. The previous owner was a smoker so the possible yellowing could present some of the green tint.
Also the body has been drilled for both the older and newer style pickguards.

Looks like a Classic 50s body with a Classic 60s neck, with a Classic Player 60s loaded pickguard and neckplate. That would explain everything, including the body having screw holes for both an 8 and 11 hole pickguard...

+1
and it would be the perfect next guitar for me. Well, after getting a capri orange one of course.

Great guitar, congrats.

Cheers,
Robin

I presume the info provided by Fender is based on the serial number on the neck, which, contrary to how it looks in the pictures, must be a 12" radius. That still doesn't rule out the likelihood that the body is from a Classic 50's, though, as evidenced by the color (looks more like Daphne Blue than Sonic Blue), vintage trem and holes for a 8-hole pickguard...

That combination of parts is a really nice combo, though!

Thanks for all the help guys! I knew this would be the place to go to find the information I needed. First post accomplished. Still makes me feel good about the $300 i paid for it.
This makes my second partscaster then, my other one is an American standard body(currently stripped with a couple coats of clear nitro sprayed on it while I decide what color to spray it) mex maple neck and emg gilmore loaded picguard.

Why put the clear under the color?
