Alrighty, so I've got this guitar. It's a Squire Bullet Strat. It's a decent guitar for 120 but I plan on moving up in the world. The problem is I'm lefty and want to switch for cheap. There's not much selection for lefties though and guitars get expensive fast if you want anything besides the base model. As far as I know there arn't any lefty Blacktop series guitars.

Plus, I'm pretty broke. I make money how I can, odd-jobs and such and really want a left handed guitar though. Should I just mod it? I mean if I get a basic standard no-frills Strat for 500 and I plan on switching the pick-ups and such anyway, why not just buy a new neck and bridge? A lot of people upgrade their bridges so I could get a lefty Super-Vee Bladerunner (unless someone recommends a different bridge) for $150 and I found a site called Warmoth that makes guitar necks so I can buy a lefty one there for like $200 give or take depending on what woods I want (they custom make the necks, pretty sweet).

So what should I do? Upgrade/Mod my guitar for 350 or buy a real Fender Strat for 500? Recommendations for other aftermarket bridges/necks are appriciated.

Hope this doesn't sound like an ad or anything, made this account just to figure out what to do with this thing.

I would recommend against heavy modifications. When it's all said and done, you would come out ahead with a new guitar. In fact, you can get a new MIM Standard lefty Strat for around $450.00 on MF (even cheaper if you shop used) or a Squier CV 50's Strat for under $400.00 and yes; CV is light years ahead of the Bullet.

+1 I agree.

Save that $350 toward a better guitar (and eventually a better amp). In the mean time, just play the heck out of the guitar you got. And learn how to set it up (to make it play its best and sound its best).

Since you are wanting to change the neck too, it will probably cost you the same amount of money to change the neck and pups as to buy a new or used guitar with the neck you like than trying to put it in a Bullet body.

It may be cheaper to buy a Classic Vibe or Fender Standard and go from there. While saving for parts and stuff, visit as many guitar shops that you can and find a new or used guitar you like.
