Saturday night, while having a few bourbons and watching a video of Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn, I picked up the phone and called one of the big box ineternet dealers. Quicker than a duck can snap up a june bug I now have a 57 Hot Rod Strat on the way. Not normally an impulsive person, but hey I'm getting old and ... well ... Anyway... I've been an acoustic strummer for many years but have always loved the blues. Searched this forum and found a few favorable comments about this particular guitar, a couple of luke warm comments. What do y'all think of the 57 Hot Rod Strat and why? Thanks for any comments.

Hey Willie! Congrats on your purchase. Could be the best thing that's happened to your guitar career! Impulses can be good right?! I don't know that guitar except that it might have a V neck which I always liked- personal preference is all that is. Others here can tell you about the pickups and stuff. I'm mostly just writing to tell you that, in any case, this guitar wil take you a long way down the road! I haven't played any but strats since the 80's -other brand before that- and I can't imagine seriously playing something else. If you have questions or troubles this is a great place to get guidance. I've gotten saved on here quite a few times myself. I think you should be really excited! And welcome to the family! BTW we love pics on here! What kind of amp you got?

Adore mine like no other guitar I've ever played.

Here it is

Beats this

Beats this easy

and these

Yep this one lost out to the might of the Hotrod too

And it annihilates this on a daily basis

I musta fouled up my reply earlier, Mark... Thanks, I am very excited. I went Sunday and looked at amps... I liked the way the 65 Twin Reverb sounded and they made me a good price so I put it on the truck and brought it home.

Niki.. thanks.. looks like its stands tall against some mighty fine competition... you have a great collection!

Cool! The twin's nice. I have a 66 super reverb and a blues deville. Play gig s with both of them if the room's big enough and the soundman's in a good mood!

lol There's some of that for sure, but I'm not sure what I bought. From what I read it sounds right. We'll see in a couple of days.

I love mine, the versatility loves overdrive.
Sounds good clean, dirty, overdrive, and distortion.
You'll love it

Congrats and great guitars, no questions.
You have to stop drinking bourbon though otherwise it maybe becomes some sort of ritual buying guitars.
Anyway, the 2nd guitar is the 1st step into becoming a collector.
It´s not that bad afterall \m/
Enjoy your guitar.

Cheers,
Robin

A fine buy, Willie. The neck on these models is just lovely.

Enjoy when she gets in.
