The main concern I have is with the Logo on the Headstock. I have not been able to find any information concerning that Logo, nor have I even been able to find that Logo anywhere else. The back of the Headstock says "Crafted in China" and that is also where my serial number is located.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starcaster_by_Fender

looks right for what its supposed to be. the headstock shape says its a recently made guitar, which would explain why it looks new and has the plastic on still. being a guitar starter pack guitar, i would hope you didnt pay too much for it. looks like its just a squier with a different headstock logo to me.

edit - i just looked on ebay, you can get the whole pack brand new for $120. i really hope you didnt pay much.............

Ive come across these guitars in catalogs for not too much money so probably not the best that Fender can offer. How does it play and is the setup any good?

Yep they are available through mail order catalogues in the UK. Aimed at students and beginers. Made in the far east possible in the same factory that makes the recently launched modern player series. Its a Fender all be it at the bottom of the ladder. If your just starting out good luck get to know it inside out before you move up the scale.

That's a, "Starcaster" an overseas guitar made forfor Fender.

Kind of a "First Act" type guitar that you would get a Target. It's a ligitimate Fender product.

Technically this is really not a Stratocaster, it looks like one, is made to mimic a Stratocaster but
is really a 1st step into the Fender Line
It should have been packed in a box like the one below....

Minus the Newel on the left and the Andersen Window on the right...
