THE NECK OF MY STRAT IS MADE OF MAPLE AND ALSO THE FINGERBOARD, I NOTICE SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN MY BLACK DOT INLAYS ON MY FRETBOARD, IT LOOKS LIKE A STICKER BUT IT`S NOT

HERE IS THE PIC OF WHAT I AM SAYING DIFFERENT IN MY DOT INLAY AT 7TH FRET

has it always been like that ? i cant believe it would have got through the QC at fender, especially an american std. did you get it from new ?

none of the other fender guitars are like this as i saw, yes i bought it brand new and there she goes, i don`t know that my strat has this inlay like a sticker and like a fisheye

To me it looks like the fingerboard finish is lifting off the dot. As Minnesotastrats says - get it checked out before it spreads further.

Back in the '70s when Fender used a albalone like inlay, you would get the same effect. If I look close at my '79 Strat you can see see the same thing. At a distance you don't notice.

just name it fish eye :wink: if it was aquamarine that would be even better :lol:

I also think it is the finish lifting off the dot. it is possible that one dot was slightly recessed and had some oil or residue on it prior to finishing. it can be repaired but its probably not worth the trouble unless your the obsessive compulsive type :wink:
