What i want to do with my guitar is strip the finish down to wood and glue pictures all over it. I want the whole body covered. I will have a picture to show... I was just wondering what kind of finish and glue to use... I would glue it but i was wondering what kind of finish i would use over the pictures....like a clear coating finish over to keep the pictures in place...help!

You can use any glue you like, as long as you finish with water based acrylic paint afterwards!

Try liquid spray glue like airbrushers do, that works great! Don't use too much!

Make sure to use pics printed on relatively thick paper with glossy top!

If you use thin paper like for example NEWSPAPER, it will easily soak in the clear finish and the paper will darken which gives a wet newspaper look.

You might as well print the pictures on very thin cloth which will give you an additional structural look under the clear coat. Disadvantage: not easy to do at home and sharp edges on the pictures will get blurry, kinda like an unfocussed photograph.

I was often thinking about doing this (I'm an experienced airbrusher) but I never dared to do so. It's really risky and difficult.

Check out some pieces of wood before you start with the guitar!!

I remember Fender had problems with the original run of those pink paisley guitars - the wallpaper just came off the body.
