Post subject: Position of "Original Contour Body" decal after 2000

Is it just me??

Looks like the position of the "Original Contour Body" decal on the headstock of Fender USA Strats after 2000 has moved much closer to the tuner of the high E string than it used to be????

I've seen quite a number of recent Strats with this feature.

Any info on this??? Too many fakes or just me not being up to date????

Any pre & post pictures?
We can send them to Fender's fraud division for investigation.
Are the guitars MIA MIM MIJ MIC?

If you don't think they look right now, you should have seen them in the day when they would be in "about" the right spot. I've even seen a Strat with 2 OCB decals.

There's a photo of a documented-and-original mid '60s LPB Strat with two OCB decals in Tom Wheeler's "The Stratocaster Chronicles" book.

One thing certain -- there's more consistency now regarding the decal location than there was "back in the day".

Yes, you seem to be right!
After some internet research I came to the same conclusion.

There's even Strats without any Original Contour Body decal.
I even own one!! :oops:

Fender stopped using the decal for a while. I'm blad that they put it back.

Yes, Paris, in the meanwhile I've found several pics of mid 80s Strats without this decal. Mainly 1986.
