I'm trying to find a website that is solely dedicated to strictly guitar/gear trading. Not a selling site, but if two people want to trade gear they can.

For instance I was thinning out my heard and I was willing to do some trading on Craig's list. I actually got some offers.

So does anyone know of such a site?

I don't for guitars but I've seen that in different forums regarding different topics. (collectables 'n stuff)
I bet you'll find one by searching with the search machine of your choice for forums of this category in the internet.

It should be a "fan forum", not a forum with official character.

Sorry, I can't tell you one for Fender stuff. In Ibanez regions this would be jemsite.com.

Well, sales are forbidden in this forum but I don't know about trade offers. Maybe one of the moderators/admins could give some information??

I didn't think there was a trading site. I've looked and have found nothing. I do think it's a good idea. There are people out there who don't want to sell, but really want to trade.

If I had the knowledge, I would make the site myself. I'm a ferm beleiver of working for the greater good.

I'd love to latch onto a trading site, akin to a "cyberspace swap meet". I have so many parts, subassemblies and hard to find stuff that I know there's people out there who could definitely use a lot of it. The problem is, aside from finding a good one, there's got to be a LOT of trust involved unless the parties involved have track records.

It may be cost prohibitive to some, but some sort of bank-card/escrow fund where you deposit the amount of the value of the trade plus shipping fees with the right to reject the item and receive a full refund if it arrives not as described or broken.

Rep points for each successful trade establishing accountability and the trustworthiness of the traders.

It's doable but will take some thought and planning.

http://www.thegearpage.net This is a member only site for musicians and gear heads. They have several forums which include buy, sell, and trade emporiums for members and a seperate area for builders and luthiers. Most of these guys and girls are working musicians and trade gear and guitars regularly. They police themselves and provide references for someone who is interested in trading. They are not affiliated with any manufacturer and if you want to post on the site there is a small membership fee. You do not need to be a paying member to respond to a post about a trade or sale. I visit there quite often but I'm just window shopping. :lol:

I believe Harmony Central may have a similar area on their website but I haven't been there in awhile.

Thanks for the info. I've got a few parts just sitting around that I would love to trade.
