Hello,

New here (been looking but never registered) and I'm thinking about selling my guitar to pay for car repairs but I can't find anything on the internet about it so I thought I would come to the experts for advice. It's a 2010 vintage white FSR American standard thin skin but not the special edition, doesn't have the special edition neck plate and the pickguard is not the 8 hole like the special edition but it is single ply. I'm having trouble finding another one like it on the internet to get more information. Also, on the bar code sticker on the hang tag it says 2010 FSR AM STD STRAT MN VWH. What is the MN?

Thanks in advance.

No, it means "Make Noise!"

Just kidding, couldn't help it.
Nobody is an idiot for not knowing it. Sometimes I also break my head about some abbreviations.

So it's an American Standard Strat out of a Fender Special Run, with maple neck, in VWH = Vintage White. There should be SOME special features on this guitar, otherwise it wouldn't be an FSR.

VWH is likely the special feature, maybe different pups but not necessarily.

Thanks Rob, that is a very helpful guide. I placed it in my brochure folder Fender guitars on my laptop.

No, I'm an idiot because I used to work in a music store that sold Fenders (years ago) and completely forgot how to read the tag.

Thanks guys. It's a thin skin but doesn't say special edition neck plate like I've seen on others like mine.

that chart is not very accurate by any means. If using the Serial number... it does not work. I have checked 4 guitar tags and tried to decoded them with this chart. none of the numbers match anything, other then the year, the color numbers on guitar serial number do not match the chart. so this chart does not tell much. for example a Jeff beck strat.... only comes in Olympic white and surf green..... according to the chart the last 2 numbers are the color ........correct? well the last 2 numbers on my beck strat are 77.... according to fender color chart that is frost red!!! and the other guitar is 09 which is Candy apple red! not 05 Olympic white! we all know surf green is 57. this chart in my opinion is not correct. if 02 Is Rosewood neck then what is 07? my guitar clearly has a rosewood fingerboard but according to the chart the numbers are incorrect. this chart in my opinion is not correct. . . or there is more to this chart then what has been posted! the last 3 numbers on the beck strat are 577 so if you use the 57 out of that it comes back as surf green but leaves one number un accounted for. if anyone can solve this please let me know. maybe this chart doesn't work on signature series?

It's not the serial number, it is the model number, like on the hang tag.

As you pointed out, the serial number can tell you the approximate date, but nothing else.

Fender has a data base going back to about '93, only they have the details about the serial number.... if available.
