So yesterday I was doing some trolling for cool gear with some extra overtime cash burning a hole in my pocket, and I found this black beauty at a local guitar store. It's a 1989 ST-62; pretty much exactly what I've been lusting after for a while. Brought it home for 4 bills with a nice Fender hardshell case thrown in. Like others have said, I wasn't crazy about the pickups. I tried it in the store out of a Marshall 1974x (that's now officially my DREAM amp), and they sounded OK, but not great. They were bright, but with a distinct harshness, as opposed to the Seymour Duncan Antiquities I have, which are bright, but mellow. If that makes any sense. As soon as I got home I ended up swapping the entire loaded pickguard from my '89 American Standard into this guitar. Now all the "'62" stuff is together.

Anyways, here's some pics. Please, PLEASE don't even say I should "Mayer" it out and put gold hardware and pearloid tuners on it. Please.... haha.

Sweet! Really nice neck especially.

The only change that I would suggest is a period correct pick guard with a '62 style screw-hole pattern, to look more like a '62. But looks great as-is. :)

Don't change a thing...looks perfect as is! Nice score for that kind of scratch!
